NEW AWARD TO RECOGNISE BRITISH SUPERBIKE MARSHALS

November 2 marks the announcement of the 2012 UK Worker of the Year – the nation-wide initiative organised by workwear giants, Dickies – in association with SEAT – to recognise and reward excellence in the nation’s workforce.

This year will see an added dimension to the glitzy award ceremony as Dickies and the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship (BSB) – have come together to recognise excellence among Britain’s Bike Racing Marshals with a new award for the MCE BSB Marshal of the Year.

Dickies joined the ranks of MCE BSB partner companies in 2012, becoming the Official Supplier of overalls to all of the Marshals who volunteer trackside each weekend to ensure that racing is carried out safely. This is done under MCE BSB’s Racesafe nomenclature.

“We are proud to be associated with BSB and of what Racesafe represents,” explains Maurice Morton, Marketing Director of Williamson-Dickie Europe. “This new award is a small additional way that Dickies is putting something back into the sport and also ties in very much with our drive for working excellence – as is portrayed in the wider context of our UK Worker of the Year award scheme.”

“This new award is an excellent example of the sort of activity we would encourage any of our series partners to consider and it recognises a group of people without whom no racing would be possible and to whom we are always incredibly grateful, our excellent Racesafe marshals. A shortlist for this award has been drawn up and we are now running a poll allowing all Racesafe members to vote for their colleague of the year,” said MCE Insurance British Superbike Series Director, Stuart Higgs.

“We have been delighted to welcome Dickies into the ranks of MCE BSB partners this year and we look forward to extending and further enhancing this partnership in 2013.”

Dickies is rapidly establishing itself as a force within the motorcycle sport and racing market and its involvement with BSB in 2012 has also extended to various team and individual partnerships with names such as Chris Walker and AP Kawasaki.

For 2013 Dickies is seeking to intensify its activities in the motorcycle sector with a series of partnerships and associations that it will shortly announce.
