Quick-Step Academy commits to apprenticeship scheme
It has been announced that the state-of-the-art Quick-Step Academy for Excellence in Flooring will welcome 16 bright young apprentices through its doors in October, teaching them essential flooring skills and setting them off on a path of lifelong learning.
A Government-approved programme supported by the National Apprenticeship Service, Quick-Step will offer young fitters first class benefits and unrivalled support. Working with PSC Training & Development Ltd., an Ofsted Outstanding training provider, apprentices will receive education from the Quick-Step Academy to flexibly fit around their employment.
With training costs supported by the Skills Funding Agency, the group of 16-18 year old apprentices will work with a designated Training Coordinator and achieve real qualifications at the end of the apprenticeship, including a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Floorcovering Occupations and a Level 2 Technical Certificate in Floor Covering. A variety of training modules are covered, including subfloor preparation and set-up as well as health and safety and building customer relationships to provide a rounded good-practice experience.
Participating installation companies will receive unparalleled benefits when hiring an apprentice. Quick-Step will advertise, interview and recruit motivated young people on the installer’s behalf, and there is even a 2-week trial period to ensure both parties are 100% happy.
“The apprenticeship scheme not only offers young people the chance to gain first-class training to kick-start their career, it also offers flooring installers fantastic benefits too,” explains Darren Robinson, training and development manager, Quick-Step Academy. “Nowadays, consumers expect and demand the best, most professional tradesmen, and this definitely applies when it comes to laying floors. The Quick-Step brand is synonymous worldwide with exceptional quality laminate and engineered wood floors, and having a Quick-Step trained member of staff on a team will reassure homeowners that they are getting the best possible service.”
In partnership with renowned companies such as DEWALT, Ardex and Pallmann, the Quick-Step Academy offers apprentices state-of-the-art training facilities in one of the largest academies of its kind in the world. Spanning 6,880ft2, the Quick-Step Academy offers dedicated 12ft2 training bays that provide apprentices with real room scenarios to navigate.
Unilin BVBA is investing £1.4million over the next five years into the academy, which offers a comprehensive variety of other training programmes alongside the apprenticeship scheme, including the prestigious Quick-Step Master Installer course.
